From the official Wordpress Blog:

Yesterday a vulnerability was discovered: a specially crafted URL could be requested that would allow an attacker to bypass a security check to verify a user requested a password reset. As a result, the first account without a key in the database (usually the admin account) would have its password reset and a new password would be emailed to the account owner. This doesn’t allow remote access, but it is very annoying.

We fixed this problem last night and have been testing the fixes and looking for other problems since then. Version 2.8.4 which fixes all known problems is now available for download and is highly recommended for all users of WordPress.

If you’re still reading this – please go update. NOW. Yes, it’s that important. Don’t wait.

Cheers,

Karen

There is SO much information on the web today…it’s hard to stay on top of it all. I typically spend 10-15 hours weekly surfing tech and design blogs to keep abreast of the newest technology and web design trends, bookmarking and stumbling all along the way.

weekend links simply amusing designsI have the best of intentions to share the information I find, or to write an article or two on my blog here, (it almost always makes its way into my stumbleupon account or my google reader if it’s really good) but I seem to stop short of writing about it.

So I’m starting something new for the weekends called “Weekend Links”…sort of like David Letterman’s “Top Ten”, only not so funny. These links will mostly have to do with your blog or website, but occasionally, I’ll post something totally unrelated, because I am a firm believer in variety.  I won’t be writing the articles…I’ll simply be pointing you to a few I’ve discovered over the course of the week that I think will be either interesting or informative.

Here’s a few I discovered this past week:

1.  Twitter Study: 40% of tweets are “pointless babble”

2. From Smashing Downloads: 20 Useful Resources to Download Free Website Templates

3. Cool Hand-drawn Social media Buttons for your blog: by Woo Themes

4. 65 Popular and Professional Free Fonts to download and use

5. Maximize your Wordpress Performance – 13 Tips and Tricks to get the most out of Wordpress

Okay, so that was only five, but you’ve got to start somewhere. Maybe there will be something on this list you’ll find interesting, maybe not. But keep checking back because I’ll be posting more links every weekend.

When Tressa from Van Voorst’s Adoption Journey contacted me about designing her header, she mentioned that she and her husband were adoption twins from Ethiopia and I knew I was going to like her right away. This couple was so easy to work with that it made the process even that much more fun.

She wanted primary colors and something clean and crisp that included the colors of the Ethiopian Flag, in honor of her children. I came up with the tag line “A great joy is coming”, but that will change once they have their children to something more appropriate. This is her design:
